Program Goal:

To provide information for area professionals on the latest research, medications, treatments, patient education and standards of care for women with diabetes during pregnancy.

Program Objectives:
After completion of this program, participants will be able to:

Describe Medical Nutrition Therapy practice guidelines as well as name nutrition principles and
recommendations for pregnancies complicated by diabetes |

Summarize the history of normalization of glycemic programs, the risks associated with hyperglycemia
during the first trimester and the importance of postprandial glucose |

Describe the optimal treatment protocols for insulin treatment in type 1 and type 2 diabetes during pregnancy, labor and delivery, postpartum and lactation |

State the optimal monitoring systems for pregnancies complicated by diabetes |

Define normoglycemia for nonpregnant and pregnant states |
| 6. |
Create a dietary and insulin prescription for type 1 and type 2 and gestational diabetes during pregnancy |
