Program Goal:
To advance the knowledge of the health care
professional in a variety of topics related to the identification
and treatment of acute stroke, the use of interventional
radiology, nursing regulation and other legal issues.
Information on responding to a catastrophic event will be provided
through a presentation of personal experiences at Ground Zero.
Program Objectives:

Identify three stroke risk factors and have an increased understanding of stroke pathophysiology

Identify the steps for safe administration of thrombolytics and become familiar with interventional stroke treatments.

Define interventional radiology and identify pertinent clinical situations where radiologic interventions are appropriate

Increase your understanding of the national Disaster Medical System and how to respond to a catastrophic event

Identify what nursing negligence and malpractice means
-
Gain an understanding of laws that affect nurses such as Nurse Practice Act & COBRA
-
Identify ways in which nurses can minimize their legal risks
